And now, Q's and A's about A-Q's
How do A-Q Hitching Guides compare with other hitch alignment aids on the market?
There are basically three types we've found on the internet:
• "Back and Smack": These are wedge shaped devices that "funnel" the trailer toward your hitch. Price range: $50-$100+.
• "Smoke and Mirrors": You watch a mirror aimed at your hitch. (If you have to get out and adjust the mirror, what's the point?) Price range $25-$45.
• "Visual Reference": These are the most down-to-earth and logical. Of this type, Align-Quik Hitching Guides are the simplest, least expensive and easiest to use and store.
How do the Hitching Guides fasten to the hitch/trailer? Is it a permanent installation, or is it removable?
The Guides are attached magnetically while hitching then removed for driving.
Swivel bases permit mounting to horizontal, vertical or angled surface.
Tube telescopes on rod permitting height adjustment from 28" to 42".
Aluminum rods can be reshaped as needed for a custom fit.
Can I use A-Q's with a van?
Yes. If your van has a one-piece rear window, put one guide on the hitch, one on the trailer coupler. If your van has dual rear doors so the view down the center is blocked, either back with doors open or attach both hitching guides to the trailer coupler in such a way that one is visible in each van window.
Will these Hitching Guides work on a vehicle with no rear windows?
Yes. Vans without windows in the rear doors can be backed with doors open. For vehicles without a view out the back, attach guides to locations on vehicle and trailer that are visible in side mirrors. What about with goose-neck trailers? If your view of the fifth-wheel is obstructed, find locations on truck and trailer where guides will be visible and come together when trailer meets fifth-wheel.
How can A-Q's help me back with a trailer?
Trailers can disappear behind your vehicle, but guides attached to trailer fenders will be visible in your side mirrors.
Hitching Guides can help with boat loading?
es. Attach one guide to each fender before backing the trailer into the water. When the trailer disappears under water, the guides will still be visible from the boat.
If I buy these for my husband, will he quit expecting me to miraculously guide him to the trailer while he yells at me?
Yes. We are 99% certain that once he's tried Align-Quiks he'll never want to see you in the mirrors again! Um, what I mean is, he'll start thinking of you as his friend and soul-mate and regret that he ever subjected you to that kind of emotional trauma.
